I’m going to get real with you here for a minute. Real honest. I have a confession. I don’t enjoy meal time together most nights. We have very busy schedules but committed to nightly family dinners when we started our family. I make dinner every week night and we eat together before sports practices. The reason I don’t enjoy it is because I have a house full of picky eaters that can’t get on the same page. No matter what I make, someone always complains or cries. The struggle is real. I know it will get better as the kids get older but right now, it’s frustrating! So when I make a dinner that everyone likes, it’s practically a miracle — especially if it includes a vegetable!
Sometimes being sneaky is a good strategy. I sneak veggies into things sometimes and get away with it. My kids were grocery shopping with me when I picked up Birs Eye Veggie Made Zucchini Lentil Pasta with Cheddar Sauce and they immediately noticed the picture of the zucchini on the front of the package. Luckily they have a good relationship with this veggie because we grew our own last year and I mostly used it in delicious sweet breads. With the promise of cheddar sauce, they didn’t turn up their noses at all!
I served baked chicken tenders, grapes and Zucchini Lentil Pasta with Cheddar Sauce and despite the overtly kid-friendly meal, even my husband didn’t complain. Normally he wouldn’t touch the vegetable side dish but he ate some of this and all 5 of us got some veggies in with this meal! My kids kept exclaiming “Mmmm!” and even asked if we could buy this product again. That’s a definite “YES!” from me!
The pasta was flavorful and the sauce creamy and delicious. I even think this would be a good lunch option in place of regular mac & cheese! If your kids have an aversion to vegetables, you definitely need to try this product. Just make sure you hide the bag! They’ll never know this yummy pasta dish has even a hint of veggies in it!
