This printer came just in time. Since Mommies with Cents has been growing rapidly, we have needed to increase all of our resources. I was in need of a heavy-duty printer, scanner and fax. We were asked to review a Brother MFC-5890 All-in-One Printer and I have been very pleased with the machine.

The overall appearance of the machine is really nice and professional. It is a fairly large machine, so it definitely requires some room on or near a desk, but it is a good size to use at home or in a small business.
The ink cartridges were super easy to load and not messy at all. The printer has separate color ink tanks (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) which helps by not having to get rid of a single color cartridge for printing all one color. The colors printed on the paper are so clear and beautiful. Everything is printed very quickly also.
The best part of the printer is that it’s wireless if you have a network. I was getting so tired of taking my laptop and plug it into a USB port to print things. This printer runs through the router and works like a charm. The Brother printer can also be used with a USB cord if you do not have a wireless connection.
Setup took me just a little time only because it took me awhile to realize I did not have an ethernet cable to connect the machine to the router. I called customer support and they were helpful, but the second I got off the phone, I realized it was my fault because I had a phone line cord that was provided connected when it should have been the ethernet cable. oops! The second I got that figured out, it was smooth sailing from there and only took about 20 minutes total to set up.
I don't have this model . . . mine is a couple years old. But I love it. I was kind of leary about getting a Brother because it wasn't one of the main brands, but it's wonderful. And the ink is available most places too. Brother is becoming a major competitor to the other brands that we're all familiar with. I won't buy any other brand in the future. Although my next purchase is going to be a laser printer.
