Raise your hand if you kids are, or have been more interested in the box a gift comes in, rather than the gift itself. Don’t worry. You won’t be alone. I don’t have a scientific study to prove it but I’d be willing to bet that the majority, if not all, parents can include themselves in that category. So why not give the kids what they want in the first place? Build A Dream Playhouses took the concept of a cardboard box as a play thing and ran with it. They have created cardboard “boxes” in the shape of cars, jets, kitchens, castles, ice cream trucks, space shuttles and more. They spark creativity and imaginative play, are easy to set up and easy to store because they fold and are shipped completely flat. Plus, aside from just playing with them, you can also customize them yourself with paint, markers or anything your heart desires! I received the play kitchen for review. I was very impressed with how quickly it can be set up. I fully expected a full sheet of directions and at least 30 minutes if not more to put it together. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Basically all I had to do was unfold it and it was ready to go! I did have a little help from our Elf, Wilson. He wanted to make something for the kids after they went to bed so we made it together. He was particularly fond of the spacious freezer where elves are known to hang out when they are away from their home in the frigid North Pole.
The Pop ‘N Play Kitchen sells for $59.95 which seems a bit steep for cardboard. Taking into account the ease of use, the quality of the experience and how easy it is to store when you don’t want such a large play thing in your living room, it’s a pretty good value. The Snack Shack and the Imagine Wagon are two other Dream Playhouse pieces that caught my eye. These would both be a lot of fun to use outside in the summer.
Mindy received the Pop ‘N Play Castle and her kids had just as much fun as mine did with their kitchen. The set up was basically the same but the castle theme is perfect for a basement!
