I had been racking my brain for a fun and easy Valentine project when I came across a Christmas cookie wreath. I though it would be super cute to do one for Valentine’s Day and it couldn’t be much easier to make! Here’s what you need:
- 1 Pack of Nestle chocolate chip cookies (2 are shown but you only need 1) If you can find the Valentine ones, even better!
- 1 can of white frosting
- 1 roll of Fruit by the Foot (strawberry)
- PixyStix Candy Canes
- Wonka Nerds
First, bake your cookies according to the package directions. While they are baking, cover a large piece of cardboard with foil. I happened to have a round silver platter but if you don’t have something similar, the cardboard will work just fine. If you want to color your frosting, add some food coloring directly to the jar and stir it up. I used a frosting bag and frosting tip but if you don’t have those, just put your frosting in a ziplock bag and cut a little piece off of one corner to squeeze the frosting through.
When your cookies are done baking and have cooled some, arrange about 12 of them into a circle on your platter or cardboard. Next, squirt some frosting onto the back side of a cookie and place it on top of your first layer. Continue, staggering the cookies until you’ve used them all.
Unroll your Fruit by the Foot and shape it into a bow. Trim the ends with scissors. You’ll probably use a little more than half of the roll depending on how big you want your bow.
Use a sharp knife to cut about an inch off the the bottom of two candy canes. Add them to your wreath in the shape of a heart. Use a little bit of frosting to hold them down but be sure it doesn’t show!
Squeeze some frosting onto the tops of a few cookies in the shape of a heart. Fill the middles with Nerds candy. And your done! Here’s the final product:
Fun, right? And super easy too! Of course, you could bake your own cookies and make frosting from scratch if you want more of a challenge or get a little more creative with the decorating. This style was fast and easy to make and I think it turned out pretty cute. Do you agree?
