to review and was so excited at first. I say at first because shortly after I expressed my excitement to my family that we were having a fried turkey for the big Thanksgiving bash we were throwing. My dad started to tell me about how houses were blown up because of people frying their turkeys. Obviously I started doing my research as I was freaked out. Later I found out the reasoning was because people were putting frozen turkeys into the fryers and it would make them blow. Whew…I can handle thawing my turkey properly.
I admit that I still could not help myself as I was apprehensive to fry the turkey indoors. It specifically says not to fry the turkey outside, so we compromised with the garage. Luckily, it wasn’t too cold outside so the garage was a bit warm.
The Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer states that you can fry up to a 14 lb. turkey. Let’s just say that this is the ABSOLUTE max and that is pushing it. I bought a 13.5 lb. turkey and we were all afraid it would not fit in the fryer, but it fit just snug enough that it worked great. Having never used one before, the step- by- step instructions and helpful side notes made it extremely easy. It performed exactly how it is portrayed. The turkey came out juicy and flavorable and it only took about 55 minutes to cook after the 30 min warm up time. On the right front corner of the fryer there is a black grip for opening the top which doesn’t heat up. That makes it nice knowing you’re not going to grab a hot piece of the fryer. This safety precaution is accompanied by the hook used to insert and extract the fryer basket but does get caught in the basket from time to time. The clean up was quick and very easy. Hook up the spout to drain the oil, remove all internal parts and wipe down the outside. The internal parts were easy to clean and only took about 5 minutes.
I am mad at myself that I did not get any pictures as I meant to, but preparing the rest of the Thanksgiving food made me forget all about it. My family raves so much about how great the turkey was and I was super excited because my oven was free to fix the rest of the food while the turkey was frying. My garage smelled great for about a week too! 🙂 The Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer is also nice because you can steam your veggies and fry other items such as onion rings. yum!
I highly recommend the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer. It seems a bit pricey at about $170 ($117 right now through Amazon
), but it is well worth the money and would be an awesome Christmas gift for anyone!!!

Wow, I didn't know they made indoor turkey fryers. Glad it worked out all right. I would have been very nervous myself.
Who knew cooking could be so terrifying?! I'm glad everything turned out well though.
