Over the fourth, I got a chance to test out the PowerPad Lamp. I was surprised how well it worked. You just open the little pad and place it in the holder, light the candle (included) and it warms up the pad which gives off something that repels insects. Before I lit it, I had gotten a few bites. Afterwards, none.
I’m looking forward to trying the Clip-on mosquito repellant. It’s cool that you just clip it on and go. That way if you take a walk or something, the mosquitos can’t attack. You can get a B1G1 Free coupon here.
One thing that concerns me though is some of the things on the warning label:
Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
Avoid breathing vapor.
I suppose when used correctly, this product is safe but it makes me a little wary having it around my kids.
I know Avon Skin So Soft is a popular and safe alternative mosquito repellent. What do you use to protect your kids from bugs while outside? I’d love a few tips before our big camping trip- please share what works for you by leaving a comment!

Listerine! Sucking on those breath strips works pretty well (because they are attracted to the carbon dioxide that you breath out). I was told by a friend that you can spray them or yourself with listerine and it will repel/kill them too (haven't tried that method). Someone just told me the other day that sesame oil works well (haven't tried that one either though).
I too got to try the lamp and the clip on as a BzzAgent, and I love the lamps, but the clip on did not seem to work as well and I really wasn't even sure the thing was working- there was no scent and the gel never seems to go down. We did however find something in the garden center called Skeeter Beater and it is a powder substance in a jug and it smells a bit like Italian seasoning- my husband kids that the neighbors will start coming over to get some food! Anyway- it really works- you spread it around the perimeter of the areas you will be in about 30 minutes beforehand and the nice thing is that it lasts more then 1 day as long as there's no rain.
