The spirit of Christmas is in giving and goodwill. Make a purchase from Central City Coffee for a friend and you’ll be doing both! This Portland, OR based organization is a social innovation Fund (SIF) program that sources, roasts and sells craft-roasted coffee to support the mission of Central City Concern by:
- Showcasing Central City Concern’s mission of providing comprehensive solutions to ending homelessness and achieving self-sufficiency
- Teaching transferable employment skills and offer life changing experiences
- Generating revenue to support Central City Concern’s employment services, which helps formerly homeless individuals find and retain employment
Central City Coffee sources it’s beans specifically to enhance economic growth in coffee producing countries and then employs Portland’s homeless population to batch roast and sell it’s offerings. Central City Coffee offers a variety of roasts including:
- Solstice Sister Holiday Brew
- Punk Princess Dark Roast
- Magic Mama Light Roast
- Warrior Woman Medium Roast

More About Central City Concern:
Central City Concern (CCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 1979 in Portland, Oregon. Over the years, it evolved to meet the increasingly complex needs of homeless and very low income individuals. Central City Concern first stabilizes lives by securing safe and affordable housing for clients. Individuals also improve their health and connect to a new network of peers who support a clean and sober lifestyle. Employment is the final step to self-sufficiency and Central City Concern brings a creative and intensive approach to this phase. We offer volunteerism and training opportunities as interim steps to employment for those who need a more gradual entry into the work world. Central City Concern’s Employment Access Center has placed thousands of people in jobs, creating self-sufficiency and hopeful futures. Volunteers help CCC across all program areas and donations help the agency meet critical needs and develop new programming. In addition, CCC embraces an entrepreneurial spirit and has pursued unique revenue-generating opportunities over the years, including Central City Bed developed in 2010, and Central City Coffee that was founded in 2013.Central City Coffee and other social enterprise operations are members of the REDF portfolio.
