Many people don’t know this and I’m not ashamed to say this, but my daughter is being evaluated for Autism. The more I read about it, the more amazing and fascinating the world is. She has 3 sets of evaluations with 1 under her belt, so we will see. When I was offered the chance to review Coloring Outside Autism’s Lines: 50+ Activities, Adventures, and Celebrations for Families with Children with Autism I think it’s only great to know as much as you can when it comes to your children.
While my daughter would be considered a very high functioning autistic child, Coloring Outside Autism’s Lines: 50+ Activities, Adventures, and Celebrations for Families with Children with Autism includes more than fifty carefully selected outings and activities that bring a new kind of hope for families living with autism. Written by Susan Walton, a mother of an autistic child, she believes that having fun needs to be a central part of any intervention and therapy. Susan draws on her own life experiences and other parents with autistic children to deliver exciting ideas and activities. She feels by doing these activities, it is a therapy for the autistic children.
I think Coloring Outside Autism’s Lines: 50+ Activities, Adventures, and Celebrations for Families with Children with Autism is great because it provides tips and tricks on how to do these outings. My daughter is just wonderful and I adore spending time with her, so I am not worried about this aspect like I used to be. The best part of the book for me is when it discussed the diet. I’ll never forget Jenny McCarthy discussing her son and how he was on a diet for having Autism. It has always stuck with me and if my daughter does get diagnosed with this, I will definitely put her on this diet.

I have never been ashamed to talk about my sons autism. But still, I hope you have a good result for your evaluations. I have probably felt every other emotion but never ashamed or embarrassed, it is what it is.
