I have sweet tooth like none other. My “Sweet Treats” Pinterest board has more pins in it than any other board besides “Recipes” which probably has even more sweet treats pinned to it. Presentation plays a big role on which treats catch my eye. Somehow desserts just get better when they are served in pretty individual sized portions. Desserts in Jars: 50 Sweet Treats That Shine by Shaina Olmanson offers recipes for all occasions from potlucks to picnics, kids birthday parties to sophisticated soirees, all served in a jar. The recipes range from classics like apple pie to original recipes such as Peanut Butter & Jelly Parfaits and Basil Strawberry Lemonade Granitas. These single-serve dessert treats are adorable as-is but Shaina also offers decoration tips and ideas to kick them up a notch. There’s even a section of the book on jarred “Mixes for Giving” perfect for Christmas gifts, care packages or even party favors! The Desserts in Jars cookbook retails for around $12.
You can bet I’ll be hitting garage sales this summer looking for cool jars to whip up some of these desserts in. Then I’ll have an excuse to throw a party too!
