As a child I loved to read. Going to the library was one of my favorite things to do. I want my children to have the same love of reading that I do. Things are different now than they were when I was growing up. Now, reading is even MORE fun with interactive story book apps like Fairy Tales. This newly released app is a free download that comes with one unlocked book.
Right now it also comes with a $7 holiday gift so you can select 3 free books of your choice! My youngest loves Cinderella so when she saw that as one of the choices she couldn’t wait to “buy” it with her free coins. It was an excellent choice! Since she can’t read on her own yet, we selected the “read to me” option to have the story narrated to her. After a few pages, up popped a fun 3D game. If you tilt the tablet you can sort of pan around the room to get a different look at it. In this first game you have to help Cinderella do some chores like washing dishes, sweeping and scrubbing a pot. The activity is simple and the directions are easy to understand, even for small children. When you are finished or whenever you are ready, you can continue with the story. The next pop-up came a few pages later and involved trying different dresses on the step-sisters.
I love that this wasn’t a super quick story, but a good length with some fun along the way. Parker also enjoyed a maze that she could navigate by tilting the tablet and helping at scene where the step sisters and Cinderella try on the glass slipper.
