This is a great way to get your kids involved in a charitable cause. I love the idea of Crayons N’ Care- something children of all ages can do to contribute to putting a smile on the face of someone who really needs it. What a wonderful opportunity to teach your children about compassion, caring and helping those in need.
Attention All Teachers and Parents – Brady’s Smile Needs Your Help!
Below are two ways to get your class/children involved with Brady’s Smile!
Mascot Contest Open to Kids Grades K-5
Brady’s Smile is in need of a mascot and calling on kids in elementary schools to help create one through their unique artistic skills! All that is needed is a piece of construction paper, crayons, and a child’s imagination! We ask that teachers and parents help children understand what Brady’s Smile is all about (very simply put – helping sick children and their families in hospitals) and would like to see the mascot smiling and given a creative name. Mascots can be people, animals, or anything that comes to mind – we want to see where children’s imagination brings them. The contest is open to children in grades K-5 and all submissions must be received by October 1, 2008. Please note this is only a few weeks away! In order for children to participate, parents/guardians must complete a consent and entry form. Please visit our Mascot Contest webpage to access these forms and for additional details and official rules for the contest!
Crayons n’ Care Open to Children of All Ages
Whoever said that the pen is mightier than the sword might have been onto something, but we at Brady’s Smile believe that the power of the crayon trumps them both. A child with a crayon not only has the ability to express their creativity and have fun, but also has the ability to an impact and add some color to the lives of children and families in need. The “Crayons ‘n Care” effort is quite simple and aims to provide children and families in the ICU with drawings and notes of encouragement from children around the country. Children of all ages are encouraged to help us out by drawing pictures that make them happy – smiles, rainbows, cars, pets – whatever! All drawings and messages of encouragement will then be included in our Brady’s Smile Comfort Bags and distributed on a monthly basis to children in the ICU at one of our partnering hospitals. This is a perfect classroom exercise or project to do at home with your child and we hope that you will spread the word about it and get it into classrooms and youth groups (e.g. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League Teams, etc). This is an ongoing effort by Brady’s Smile, Inc. and we would love to receive pictures anytime throughout the year to include in our Brady’s Smile Comfort Bags!
In addition, we will randomly select one drawing a month to receive a Brady’s Smile prize in thanks for everything you are doing. For more information and detailed instructions, please visit our “Crayons n’ Care” webpage!
