As a lot of you know, my husband is in the Air Force (not active duty, just National Guard). He actually enlisted in 2000. He was fresh out of training in 2001 and started what he thought was a normal college career. He thought he would attend drills one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Little did he know that one month into college he was activated and it changed his whole life. He had to withdraw from school. He has been active duty ever since (even though he is still National Guard). He managed to travel 2 hrs. to work and continue to get his Bachelor’s degree and travel 2 more hrs. at least 3 days a week. I am very proud that he was able to accomplish this task, but I feel bad because he was “cheated” out of his college experience. He was forced to grow up and grow up quickly.
Our hearts go out to each and every victim and their family. You will not be forgotten. We also would like to thank all of the service men and women who protect our country each and every day.
