Today’s Tip from The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference: Run your pool filter and sweeper system overnight.
“Cleaning your pool during off-peak hours (like the middle of the night) helps conserve energy. During peak hours, power companies are often forced to use backup genertators to meet the demand for energy. Backup generators are not as efficient as the main generators, so you’re actually using more energy to do the same amount of work. Running your pool filter (and other appliances) during off-peak hours minimizes the need for backup power generators, which are often bigger polluters than main generators.”
