Gramm in a Box Cookie and Candy Craft kits are always are always fun to receive but this month’s was a LIFESAVER! December is an extremely busy month for me, as it is for most moms trying to do ALL.THE.THINGS. On top of the typical holiday, household and sports stuff, it’s also my daughter’s birthday this month just adding to the madness. To top it off, our oven isn’t working and I have no idea when I’ll even have time to schedule a repair service. Luckily, Gramma in the Box saved the day with a Christmas themed box and the tradition of decorating Christmas cookies was not lost.
Gramma in a Box cookie and candy craft subscription deliveries always come with everything you need to make two candy crafts as well as a set of frosting and sprinkles and cookies to decorate. It also comes with easy to understand instruction cards complete with special tips from Gramma herself! Gramma Terry is the creator of Gramma in a Box. When her grandkids moved out of state she started sending them kits just like these from them to do together over video chat. They loved it some much and she got such great feedback from others who heard about her idea that she created Gramma in a Box!
My oldest daughter loves to go on Pinterest and is obsessed with candy crafts and cookie decorating. She was always begging me to get her the supplies she needed. It can get pretty expensive just for a little craft. That’s just one of the reasons I love Gramma in a Box. The kits contain just enough product for each craft. They’re pre-portioned and ready to use. If you had to buy full sized products for the three crafts in the kit it would probably be pretty expensive. It could also take a lot of time to track down some of the more specialty items. Gramma does all this for you and makes crafting in the kitchen fun and easy. Even the mess is very minimal, something every mom can appreciate!
Here are the projects my girls did this month:
Hot Chocolate Treats — This project makes a really fun treat and can even be packaged with hot cocoa packets as a gift. Using melting chocolate you attach the candy cane into the center of a marshmallow, then dip the bottom in to the melting chocolate, then into crushed candy cane to coat. I love everything with peppermint and was happy my girls shared their completed craft with me — yum!
Holly Wreaths — The second project uses the leftover melting chocolate from the first project. You may have to re-heat and stir your chocolate to get it smooth again. Then you add corn flax and mix to coat them. Divide the mixture into six portions into the provided paper cups, shape them into a circle and make a whole in the middle. Add 3 red hot candies to look like holly berries. I never would have thought of these on my own but they are super cute and easy to make. They’d be really fun to bring to a party!
My girls are always super excited to see what the monthly craft is but cookie decorating is always their favorite. They love the creative freedom they have with this one and often incorporate leftovers from the first to projects, in this case, the crushed candy cane was a popular choice for adding some extra flavor!
I always enjoy seeing their finished projects. They pretty much do these together on their own now which is really awesome. It’s a really good sister bonding time that they share — they work really well together with these! They’re always proud of their work and happy to share the finished treats with Mom, Dad and brother who are equally eager to eat them!
