We’ve been receiving Gramma in a Box deliveries for awhile now. My girls always look forward to them and so do I! They’re perfect for busy families with kids that enjoy creating in the kitchen. Gramma in a Box cookie and candy craft subscription deliveries always come with everything you need to make two candy crafts as well as a set of frosting and sprinkles and cookies to decorate. It also comes with easy to understand instruction cards complete with special tips from Gramma Terry herself! Gramma Terry is the creator of Gramma in a Box. When her grandkids moved out of state she started sending them kits just like these for them to do together over video chat. They loved it so much and she got such great feedback from others who heard about her idea that she created Gramma in a Box!
My oldest daughter in particular LOVES kitchen crafts. She is constantly looking up recipes and asking to make things. Unfortunately our family doesn’t have a lot of extra time on our hands. All 3 of our children are currently enrolled in two sports each. Between all of their games, tournaments and practices, there is little time left. They love sports but also have other interests so I feel a little guilty that we don’t get the opportunity to indulge in them as often. Gramma in a Box has been a lifesaver in that department for my daughters while my son benefits from taste testing the final products.
As mom, there are many things to appreciate about Gramma in a Box. The convenience alone makes this subscriptions well worth it. It would take me a long time to shop and gather the supplies for these crafts. While some items could be found at the grocery store, they often contain some specialty items you might find at a craft store. Purchasing all of the supplies would cost way more than you pay for the Gramma in a Box delivery. With Gramma in a Box, everything arrives neatly and ready to use. The kits contain just enough product for each craft. They’re pre-portioned and ready to use. My girls, ages 8 and 10, do everything on their own with no help from me. I love that this is something they look forward to doing together every month.
Here are the projects my girls did this month:
The projects typically start with a melting chocolate. I’m always surprised by the fun things Gramma Terry comes up with. Her theme for January was Football Treats and New Year. The first craft was “New Year Sparklers”. Pretzel rods are coated with melting chocolate then sprinkled with pastel dots.
Next up was “Game Day Crunch”. Using the left over melting chocolate from project #1, several ingredients are mixed together to create a fun and yummy snack. My kids really liked this one because it had all sorts of their favorites mixed together including popcorn, craisins, pretzels, peanuts and chocolate. Even after many months, we’ve never had the same craft twice — it’s always something new!
My kids are always excited to see what crafts Gramma Terry comes up with but ultimately, they’re favorite project is always the cookie decorating because it gives them the opportunity to get really creative. They often use supplies left over from the crafts to add to their cookies. The surprise in this area is the shape of the cookies, the color of the frosting and what the sprinkles will look like. Three colors of frosting are always included with plenty of cookies to decorate — enough that sometimes my girls even get their brother to join in the fun!
This month they got green, yellow and white frosting with blue sugar and rainbow sprinkles, gingerbread football cookies and fun shapes for the new year cookies. It looks like someone figured out that yellow and blue make green!
VERY COOL, LOOKING ITEMS
