Our home is on the older side and a bit outdated. We’ve been in the process of making small, affordable changes that make a big impact. Many of the fixtures and hardware around the house are/were a brassy gold color which really dates it. We started by changing out all of the light fixtures since we felt that would make the biggest visual difference. Then we updated brass door knobs and hinges to matte black and the cabinet knobs to a more modern shape. Next, it was time to tackle sink fixtures and bathroom accessories. Rbrohant sent me a new faucet for the pedestal sink in our powder room along with a matching accessories set to pull the look together. It helped bring the appearance from the early 2000’s to today without breaking the bank. Even though we aren’t able to update the tile at this time, it still made a notable improvement.
For smaller projects, I normally attempt to tackle them myself. I watch YouTube tutorials if I need more guidance and if I realize I am in over my head, I call a handyman for help. I was not able to reach the bolts on our pedestal sink to remove our old faucet. It required removing the bowl of the sink so I opted to call in the pros. I had already replaced the toilet paper holder myself but since he was already there, the handyman switched out the rest of the accessories for me as well.
