My five year old no longer takes naps but his younger sisters do. Since I work from home, nap time is supposed to be the most productive time of day — if I can keep my son occupied that is! I usually set him up with a quiet activity such as coloring or his workbook but often use the iPad as well. I try to stick with educational games, storybooks, coloring and puzzles rather than movies or mindless games, at least during this time of day. This week, a new storybook app, , kept Jackson quietly busy for nearly and hour! Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, this animated storybook tells the story with vivid animations with interactive images on each “page”. I was amazed with the quality of this storybook — it’s extremely detailed. The narration is done really well which adds an extra element of interest for the user. There are several options in this app. You can choose to read the book, have it narrated or choose to view the interactive pages to play around with them separately from the story. When I asked Jackson if he liked this new app his eyes got wide and he nodded very enthusiastically! I have to agree, this app is a keeper!
The Hansel & Gretel Epic Talks Animated Storybook app is available on iTunes and in the app store. It sells for $4.99.
