12 months ago today I brought my daughter into this world. If there was only one word I could use to describe her it would be “sweet”. You might be thinking “but all babies are sweet”. Yes, they are but some are much more so than others. My son was never a snuggler. Yes, he was/is sweet but that isn’t the word I would choose to describe him. McKinley on the other hand is inherently sweet. She plays independently with her toys but every few minutes she walks over to me or my husband and climbs into our lap. She lays her head on our shoulder and snuggles in for a few seconds. Then she wriggles down and is off to play again. She just has to fill up her love meter- it’s what gets her going.
Today we are celebrating her in all of her sweetness with a pancake breakfast. Tomorrow we will celebrate again with friends and family. I cannot wait to see her dig into her very own giant cupcake birthday cake. She is going to LOVE it!
The first year has flown by. Some days I want to make it stop, to keep her little forever. But another part of me can’t wait to see the woman she will become. I know in my heart she will always be my baby.
