I love essential oils and natural beauty care items but haven’t always had much luck making my own. When Juliann and Polly from The Healing Place Farm contacted me and asked me to try some of their natural products I jumped at the chance. The owner, Polly Schellinger is a Registered Nurse, Board certified Holistic nurse and is fully educated in essential oils. Polly makes most of the products herself while Juliann, the marketing manager designs and creates the custom labels. Both women are mothers working from home, something I can totally relate to! The Healing Place Farm is located in Wisconsin where locals can purchase the products at the open houses that are held at the farmhouse. Everyone else can shop online at thehealingplacefarm.com.
I browsed around the site and let the ladies know what products I was most interested in. A couple of days before Christmas, a beautifully packaged box arrived on my doorstep. I was blown away by their generosity — they sent every single item I mentioned, plus many more in a pretty Christmas box tied with a cute little hand painted wood ornament! The contents were amazing — it was love at first sight/smell/feel.
The Healing Place Farm lip balm selection is HUGE. I was drawn to Cotton Candy, Asian Pear, Coconut Cream, Lemonilla and Chai Tea. They also sent me Mango, Strawberry, Sangria, and Butterscotch which are some of their top sellers. There’s truly something for everyone! I highly recommend purchasing a value pack because you’ll want to keep one of these moisturizing balms everywhere you might need one — next to your bed, in your car, in your coat pocket, in your purse…..you get the idea. Plus, if you have a value pack, you can share with your family. My kids love these! They are chemical free and don’t have any ingredients that you won’t recognize.
One of the first things I tried from the box was the Lotion Bar in Grapefruit Orange. It smells HEAVENLY and I really loved the application of it. It’s in solid form in a large twist up tube that allows you to apply it right where you want it with NO mess. Sometimes I avoid moisturizing just because I don’t want to get it on my hands but I can’t stop using this one because it smells so good and won’t make my hands greasy. The first time I used it my daughter said “what smells SO good?!” Like the other products from the farm this one is made with all natural ingredients including Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter and Beeswax. It is available in many different varieties and custom orders are welcome.
During the winter my hands get super dry, especially when I’m working. I’m a substitute paraeducator which means I often supervise outdoor recess. The cold weather really does and number on my hands! The Pumpkin Lanolin Salve has been my go-to for night repair. It’s formulated as a first aid product or soother and it’s perfect for around the cuticles or on winter-cracked skin. I also like it on my lips at night if they are really chapped. Natural enzymes help exfoliate cells and regenerate skin. Pumpkin is high in fatty acids and vitamin E which skin loves. Lanolin is a favorite for dry, winter skin with cracks and scale. It protects the skin by coating it with a water resistant property. It is non-oily. Breastfeeding mamas might recall the wonders of Lanolin as a nipple cream.
The Herbal Hand Salve is a favorite of gardeners, healthcare professionals, teachers and anyone that washes their hands often which strips the natural oils and causes dryness. This formula is lighter than the Pumpkin Salve and has no aroma.
Both are in solid form and a little goes a long way. It softens almost instantly with the warmth of your skin to be massaged in. Both are wonderful but if I had to pick, I’d choose the Pumpkin Lanolin Salve. Either way, at least one of these is a must-have for the medicine cabinet!
