My husband is from a really large family- well, at least compared to mine. I only have one sibling while he is 1 of 6. Two of his siblings also have children (11 total). This gets to be SO expensive when buying Christmas gifts. I was spending much more on them than I was on my own children because it all adds up.
It is really hard to buy a Christmas gift for under $10, but I had the idea last Christmas to start buying each of them each a $10 gift card to the movie theatre. This will buy them admission and a little food for the movie. Another item I like to purchase is an ornament. It is something they can keep forever and they are inexpensive (especially if you hit the sales and use coupons).
Twittermoms and Staples have teamed up together to help spread the word on how to save this holiday season. The ones I mentioned were only a few. I also like to shop early and buy little at a time so that I am not bombarded at once (and I don’t have to deal with the huge crowds).
What are some of the ways you like to save during the holiday season?

My dad has 5 brothers and combined they have 16 children. Many years ago, as the family grew, we started to draw names for each of the kids. If you had 3 kids, you bought presents for 3 other kids in the family. This way, instead of spending $160 on 16 kids and each getting a little gift, you could spend $20-30 on one kid and get something they asked for. It worked much better for everyone. Besides, what kid really needs 16 gifts?
