Today in the mail we received a letter from Best Buy. To summarize the letter, it said that their records indicated that we had purchased an HD DVD player from them and that they wanted to “make sure we always have the right technology”. Enclosed was a $50 Best Buy gift card.
While that $50 doesn’t come close to making a dent in purchasing a Blu Ray Player, it was still a very nice and unexpected gesture and we were thrilled to receive it!
I’m not sure how Best Buy tracks and records purchases. We are Best Buy Reward Zone members so perhaps that is how they had record of our DVD player purchase. If you aren’t a rewards member, I would suggest signing up! You’ll get coupons as well as merchandise credits. For every dollar you spend, you’ll earn one point. Once you earn 250 points you will receive a $5 merchandise credit. We signed up when we were purchasing a refrigerator so the points racked up pretty quickly.

I love great customer service! That’s awesome that Best Buy did that for you. I didn’t know that about HD. But, then again, the only thing I know about my DVD player is how to put a Dora video in! LOL!

I’m pretty sure it is through the rewards service. My sister works for them so if I ever want anything I ask her to buy it for me!
