My kids are no strangers to technology. All three of them love playing games, reading stor books, coloring and more on our iPad and/or iPhones. I love that they can have so much fun with educational apps. They’re learning so many things without even realizing they’re “studying”. AppStart Learning takes the whole learning by playing concept a step further with their new iLearn ‘N’ Play toys. The toys are designed to work with your iOS devices ( iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod) and add an extra element of fun while protecting your device from your rough and tumble kids.

The apps that are compatible with the iLearn ‘N’ Play products can be used alone without the toy, however they’re a lot more fun with it. The apps are currently FREE if you want to check them out:
- iPad App: Letterbox for the Learning Tablet toy
- iPad or iPhone/iPod Touch App: Letter Explorer for the Adventure Explorer toy
- Either iPhone/iPod Touch App: Numberbots for the Robbi toy
The Adventure Explorer features an on/off ignition key, a steering while, shifter, accelerator, and forward/reverse controls. It’s compatible with the “Letter Explorer” app which helps kids learn letters and phonics. Again, this is right up our alley. My oldest is in Kindergarten and just learning to read. My middle child is in Preschool and learning her letters and my youngest who’s 2 is also beginning to learn her letters making it perfect for the whole crew!
The app pairs with the toy via bluetooth. Set up is extremely simple. Just go under your device’s settings, make sure your bluetooth is on and it automatically detects the device. Then you just have to turn it on. In the game, children collect and recognize letters by driving to them. In the process they learn letter sounds, how to spell high frequency words and more.
The other two iLearn ‘N’ Play toys available which look equally fun are:
- Learning Tablet
- Robbi Robot
