93% of American adults who have neighbors agree that it’s important to look out for each other’s safety according to a survey conducted by Harris Ineractive in June. Those same people were more able to identify their neighbor’s cars than their neighbor’s first names. In addition, more of them knew their neighbor’s pets more than their neighbor’s kids.
I have to admit, I’m guilty of this myself. We’ve owned the house that we live in for over six years. We’ve had the same neighbors on each side of us the entire time. While we’ve met, I can never recall their names. Both are families with children just like ours. We should probably be a little more social. The WhitePages is about to make that a whole lot easier. Just launched today, WhitePages Neighbors is the first neighborhood satellite aerial map of U.S. household contact information, including first and last name, mailing address, associated household members, and phone number to help neighbors more effectively get in touch. This database was 10 years in the making to help bring neighbors closer together.
Whether you need help in an emergency, want to put together a neighborhood watch service or organize a block party, your neighbor’s contact info is now at your fingertips. One of the coolest features of WhitePages Neighbors is the Block Party Invite and RSVP System. The 28th Annual National Night out is coming up on August 2nd which is a great way to get to know your neighbors. Feeling a little apprehensive about introducing yourself? Don’t worry. WhitePages Neighbors has got you covered. With just a few clicks, you can create an invitation without having to track down names and addresses. You can personalize it however you’d like and the USPS will mail it to your neighbors for FREE. If August 2nd isn’t a good date for you, no worries. You can use this tool anytime.
My husband often accuses me of not being very social. I guess it is a little odd that I am a stay at home mom and we don’t really know our neighbors. It’s not that I don’t want to get to know them. It’s just that everyone’s lives are busy. It’s always rush, rush, rush. I do believe it’s important to get involved with the community and getting to know your neighbors is a good place to start. Neighborhoods with tightly knit group are a safer place to live. We can all look out for one another and make our neighborhood a more fun, secure and enjoyable place for our families.
All of the information on WhitePages Neighbors is public knowledge however you can claim, edit and publish your contact information or even make it private. To use WhitePages Neighbors:
- Visit www.WhitePages.com
- Click on the “Address & Neighbors” tab
- Enter your own address
- Results will populate with the name, address, phone number, etc. of your immediate neighbors
If you don’t already know your neighbors, I encourage you to use this tool to get to know them!
