I don’t claim to be a good cook. I do what I can to get by. For some people cooking is a way to relax. For me, it’s the complete opposite. It sort of stresses me out. It doesn’t help having three small and suddenly needy children in the kitchen and almost no counter space. Anything that simplifies things and gets the food on the table faster is more than welcome! If there’s one tool every kitchen should have, it’s a food processor. A French company called Robot-Coupe developed the first food processor. Now Magimix by Robot-Coupe uses the same technology as its commercial models in their high-performance home models. With an extremely powerful yet quiet motor, this food processor makes quick work out of a variety of kitchen tasks with ease. A trio of work bowls allows multi-tasking without stopping to wash a bowl. From mixing batters and sauces to kneading dough, slicing fruits and veggies and grating cheese, the Magimix drastically cuts down on prep time. The Magimix comes with a variety of razor sharp Sabatier stainless steel blades and discs made to handle even the biggest jobs including crushing ice. The motor automatically adjusts the power and speed to suit the task at hand. The three button control further simplifies use. Available in 12 cup, 14 cup and 16 cup sizes in white or chrome finish, prices start at around $300.
One of my family’s favorite dishes is scalloped potatoes. The slicing tool on this food processor is amazing. I made a pan of them last weekend for a family gathering and it perfectly sliced about 20 potatoes in a matter of minutes — now if it would just peel them we’d really be in business! Since all of the slices were the same thickness, the potatoes cooked evenly and came out really well!
Since we very rarely buy shredded cheese and it’s one of my least favorite kitchen tasks which I usually try to pass off to my husband, I was thrilled to find out it could be done with the shredding disc. It’s no longer a chore with the Magimix food processor! Now I can shred a pound of cheese in about two seconds flat! Those scalloped potatoes may have gotten a little bit of extra cheese on top.
This past weekend I also made homemade broccoli cheese soup. The recipe requires chopped onions, celery, carrots and potatoes. The Magimix food processor made an easy yet time consuming recipe so much simpler. It’s so easy to switch between different attachments and bowls. The base and the lid have to be latched on properly for the motor to engage and I did have a little trouble with that but I think it was just a matter of me familiarizing myself with the machine. At one point I was having difficulty with it and my husband walked in the kitchen, took over and asked “what’s the problem?” Apparently user error. It really is simple to use. You can see a video demonstration here. Find out more about Magimix and see the other products they have to offer at www.magimix.com
