Did you know that 1 in 3 Americans are at risk for chronic kidney disease? I was not aware of the staggering statistics until now. Kidney disease causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer and is the 9th leading cause of death in the U.S. It is estimated that 30 million people in the U.S. are affected but 90% of those with kidney disease don’t even know they have it! March is National Kidney Disease Prevention Month so it’s a great time to educate yourself and find out what you can do to help prevent Kidney Disease.
In 1994 the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation created “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Heathy” PSA that brings awareness to kidney disease prevention, the need for organ donation and encourages you to learn more about research, education and innovation. You can find out more at FixingPaco.org.
Additionally, you can watch compelling stories and testimonial videos from actual kidney disease and dialysis patients and living donors like the one below:
April is National Donate Life Month. Lives can be saved with the help of donors and is as easy as checking a box when you get/renew your driver’s license. If you aren’t already, consider becoming a donor today.

I didn’t really have any idea. Thanks for the article.
