Mindy and I had the opportunity to experience a Shopportunity first hand when we were asked to join the “The Marshall’s Best Find” campaign.  We were each given a $50 gift card and sent shopping (a rough job, we know…but someone’s gotta do it!).  We are going up against other bloggers for a chance to win a $250 gift card for the best find in spring fashions.

At Marshalls you can find the latest designer fashions and name brands at up to 60% off of department and specialty store prices.  Now shopping at Marshalls may not sound like much of a challenge but both Mindy and I are in somewhat unique situations.  I’m 18 weeks pregnant and Mindy just had a baby a few weeks ago.  Marshalls does not have a maternity section and shopping while you are still trying to lose the baby weight just isn’t as much fun.  That being said, I don’t think I’ve ever set foot in Marshalls without coming away with a great find and our shopping trips were not without success!

I started out looking at tops but wasn’t having much luck finding anything that would work well with my increasing belly size.  I resisted the temptation to shop for my kids instead and headed over to the dress section.  I hit the jackpot over there when I found a cute, short black dress that is very stretchy and cut in a way that would work with my baby belly.

Imagine my surprise when I looked at the tag and saw that this dress had a manufactures suggested retail of $118 but was on clearance at Marshalls for only $29!  I had a dress in a similar style during my previous pregnancy and actually wore it as a top over a cute pair of jeans.  Since I am tall, this look usually works out well for me.

My second find was also a dress that I will likely wear in the same fashion. Cute, stretchy and comfortable- the three things I look for when shopping right now. The price was $19.99 with a compare at price of $34.

Here’s Mindy’s experience:

I walked in realizing I had a lot of weight left to lose and was not prepared to buy a bigger size just yet.  I gave in though and managed to find some really great shorts for $14.99.  They had a compare to price of $28 (although there was a MSRP tag of $52).  That picture doesn’t look so good on this post, does it?  hmpf

I also got these wonderful shoes that I think will go great with some jeans and a cute fitting t-shirt that I will proudly wear when my baby weight goes away.  Sadly, there was no compare to price, but they were only $19.99!

Lastly, I could not resist these little Tommy Hilfiger shoes for my son.  I believe my husband calls them Boat Shoes??!!  They were on clearance for $15 with a compare to price of $40!  (Say, what??)

    MMarshall’s never fails me. Best shoe selection anywhere in town. Some super buys if you are patient and keep looking, I love spending/saving money shopping there!

    Marshalls always have lots of good prices for the lttle kids play clothes, etc, I try to shop there when get to Minneapolis to see the kids and grandkids!!
