Maukilo Sand Toys Review & #Giveaway

One of our favorite things to do in the summer is to visit Guemes Island.  My in-laws have a vacation home with beachfront property that is just a short drive and ferry boat ride away making it the perfect summer escape.  The kids love playing on the beach or at the park and we love relaxing and watching them have fun.  On a recent trip we took some new HABA sand toys from Maukilo:

• HABA Sun Bistro Pizza Bakery —  Sand makes the perfect pizza dough to pack onto the pizza plate.  Add toppings with the three texture stamps that are included with this set (pepperoni, chili pepper and mushroom) or get creative with your toppings using rocks, dandelions, seaweed and more.
• HABA Sun Bistro Fancy Cake Bakery —For dessert, make a delicious chocolate sand layer cake.  Using the cake slice mold you can create individual slices or an entire cake.  Decorate it with the frosting mold, then use the cake server to serve your guests or customers.

I don’t know who had more fun with these two sand toy sets — me or the kids. The sand at the beach wasn’t ideal because it’s pretty rocky but we were still able to create a pizza and some cake.  My kids always enjoy making pretend meals in their toy kitchen at home so taking the same concept to the beach was a really fun activity.  The kids loved stamping their pizza toppings onto their sand pizzas and finding shells and other small items to add.  The cake was a little hard to make with the type of sand we were using so we weren’t able to get extra creative with it.  We managed a slice with dab of frosting.  My idea for layering a slice with seaweed filling didn’t really work out because the sand wouldn’t stick together.  We’re looking forward to taking these toys to the ocean later this summer and using them with some finer sand.  Check out some photos of my kiddos enjoying these awesome toys:
