I come from a family whose parents had two very different money management skills. I feel fortunate that my dad took the time to teach me important lessons about saving and spending not only by example but with some hands-on learning. I truly believe that these lessons have played a great role in my life. I also feel blessed that my husband and I are pretty much aligned when it comes to money management. Our kids are still pretty little but it’s never too early to start teaching kids about budgeting, saving, etc., even if the lessons are small. The video below has some really great tips for teaching teens money management skills, some of which could be modified and applied to younger children.
Do you have any tips on how to teach children to be savvy with their money? I’d love to hear the ways your family teaches these important lessons!
