Everyone can use a little extra motivation, especially on Monday, right? This new series is designed to motivate you in different areas of your life whether it be trying a new recipe, organizing an area of your home or testing out a new cleaning tip. I’ll be giving you my take on the assignment and hopefully inspire you to try it out yourself!
This week I have what I believe is a seriously awesome cleaning tip.
Two of the toilet bowls in my home have had what I thought were impossible to remove stains. I tried soaking with different cleaners, scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing. I even tried my go-to, the Magic Eraser, but even that didn’t work! I was seriously starting to consider replacing my toilets. I would be embarrassed when people would come over because even though I had just cleaned them, the toilets still looked dirty.
Then I discovered an inexpensive cleaning tool that saved me hundreds of dollars (how much do new toilet bowls run these days?) and removed all my toilet stains!
See that brown spot at the bottom of the toilet in the “before” picture? That was my “impossible” stain, some sort of mineral build-up I’m guessing. After about 10 minutes of cleaning I was able to remove it. My secret weapon? A pumice stone.
I found this in the beauty aisle at the grocery store. It cost about a buck fifty. Believe it or not, this stone won’t scratch the surface of the porcelain but is rough enough to scrub off stubborn build up. It did take quite a bit of elbow grease but it worked! I scrubbed for probably 10 minutes or so to remove the stain in my toilet. It actually wears down the stone. This is what it looked like when I was done:
How do YOU remove stubborn toilet stains? Do you have a favorite cleaner that works really well? I’m curious to know what makes your toilet sparkle!
(I can’t find a good segue from toilets to food, I apologize!)
Last week’s motivation was to eat more veggies with a delicious Broccoli Salad recipe which is so good that I actually just made it AGAIN today! Be sure to check out all of the past Motivation Monday posts for more inspiration!

After many years I’ve finally found the best cleaner for hard water stains, Bar Keepers Friend. I honestly received a free sample from Twitter & love it

I tried that! It works great for tubs and sinks and even toilets but it didn’t even touch the problem spots on my toilets. Glad it works for yours! Thanks for leaving a comment!

Yes! That’s what I used when I lived in Texas but I haven’t been able to find it in stores here.
