My Most Triumphant Outlet Shopping Story

My family and I just so happened to go to the outlets yesterday for our bi-annual shopping trip to buy our kid’s clothes for the new seasons.  Twittermoms and Gap Outlet have asked what our most triumphant outlet shopping story was in celebration of Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Store’s “SUMMER SAVINGS for YOU & Your Little Ones!”  Outlet shopping can be tricky because the deals aren’t always the best.  We had a plan in mind to stop at The Children’s Place, Carter’s, Osh Kosh and Gymboree.

Our first stop was The Children’s Place.  We purchased 24 items ranging from shorts, shirts to pants and spent $120.88 with tax.  I used a 15% off coupon and this figures to $5/item.

Our next stop was Carter’s.  Carter’s is tricky as it can be expensive, but from time to time it is cheaper for me to shop there than The Children’s Place.  We didn’t do as well there, but my daughter desperately needed some nice shirts that weren’t for place.  We spent $44.94 with tax there and received 5 items.  This figures to $9/item.  I did not have a coupon to use here unfortunately.

I did not have any luck at Osh Kosh, but stopped at Gymboree next.  I still needed dress shirts for my daughter and nice shorts for my son.  We spent $61.99 with tax on 7 items.  I had a coupon to use, but you can’t use them at the outlet stores unfortunately.  We spent $61.99 for 7 items which figures to $8.86/item.  Luckily, though, I received $25 Gymbucks back, so that is $37 total if you figure in the Gymbucks.

So, my grand total for yesterday was $203 for 36 items which figures to $5.73/item!  Not too shabby considering we only do this twice/year and my kids are stocked for summer!
