As a mom I struggle to keep my house stocked with healthy snacks to fuel my three athletes. Like most kids, they want junk food. Nutsola is a great alternative to sugar filled granola bars. This Superfood mix comes in several varieties and can be used in multiple ways making it a really versatile snacking option for the whole family. Here are a few ways that it can be enjoyed:
- Healthy, Gluten-Free crust option for cakes & pies
- Cereal (just add the milk of your choice)
- Topper for yogurt & ice cream
- Energy Bars/Balls
- Grainless Granola (NUTSÓLA is gluten-free!)
- And so much more!!!
Nutsola sent me their Pumpkin Spice blend and their Peanut Butter flavor along with a baking mat and bar making tool. I loved that I could make my own bars at home!
They are super easy to make. Just dump the entire bag into a bowl, add 2 Tablespoons of water and mix well.
Then use the bar making tool to form square bars and place them on the baking mat. I put my baking mat on a cookie sheet so it would be easy to move.
To make these in your oven, set it to 170 degrees and bake for two hours. Rotate the mat 180 degrees and bake for another two hours. You can also use a food dehydrator which will take half the time.
I’ve bought food bars similar to these but they had a chewier texture. I like the little bit of crunch that baking these bars offers. The bag says it makes 10-13 bars. I must have made mine a little bit thinner because I got 18 bars out of one bag. The Pumpkin Spice flavor is very subtle — very mild pumpkin and a touch of spice. If I had blindly tried these and was asked what flavor they were, I would not have guessed Pumpkin Spice. They tasted great though!
I can’t wait to try the Peanut Butter flavor. I’ll probably use half the bag to make some bars and experiment using the other half in other ways. I love putting this type of thing on greek vanilla yogurt!
