Funny story. My Hubs tried to impress me with his homemade mac & cheese recipe when we first started dating. He boiled noodles, put them in a pan, poured in some milk and put some sliced cheese on top and baked it. Needless to say, I was not very impressed at the result but certainly thought his effort was sweet. These days we have a new recipe that we like to make together for the family on Sunday nights. It’s a lot better! Believe it or not, he still makes “his” mac & cheese recipe for himself and the kids from time to time and the kids actually like it!
1 lb noodles (whatever shape you prefer)
8 Tbs butter
6 Tbs flour
5 cups milk
4 cups cheese
1 lb ham, cubed
Directions:
Prepare noodles according to box. Boil butter and flour together until melted and smooth. Stir in milk. Cook until thickened. Add 6 Tbs grated cheese. Mix noodles, sauce and cubed ham. Top with cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Goes great with a salad and biscuits!

I love your idea of adding the cubed ham to your mac and cheese. This must taste delicious! I’ll have to surprise hubby. Thank you for this idea 🙂
