Paula’s Choice Skincare Line Review + #Giveaway

I don’t recall exactly where I heard about Paula’s Choice but I’ve been using her products for years.  I had really bad acne as a teenager and even used prescription medications for awhile.  Her skin care philosophy just makes sense and is backed by research.  I’ve avoided fragrances and dyes in all of the skin care products I’ve used over the years after reading her books.  I’ve tried many Paula’s Choice products over the years but have used the 2% BHA consistently — it does an excellent job of keeping pores clear.  Recently I had the opportunity to try out the Skin Balancing Line and I absolutely love it!

1. Cleanse with the Skin Balancing Cleanser.  This gentle foaming formula lathers lightly to remove makeup.  It soothes your skin and rinses clean. 100% fragrance and dye free, this cleanser is non-irritating and great for sensitive skin.
2. Follow with Skin Balancing Toner.  This weightless formula normalizes pore size, eliminates flaky skin and helps prevent signs of aging.  It’s powerful antioxidants and plant extracts help balance combination skin living it soothed and refreshed.
3. The cleanser is really gentle.  I love the texture of it.  It leaves my skin feeling soft, not tight or striped of moisture.  The toner is really refreshing and feels great.  It’s a step I would normally skip but after using this for awhile I’ve really come to see (and feel!) it’s benefit!  The Skin Balancing Moisture Gel is really interesting because it almost looks like a petroleum product but it’s lightweight and goes on really smooth and invisible. You can use it around the eyes so there’s no need for an extra product.  It wears well under makeup however it does not have sunscreen in it.

I really love all three of these products and it’s an excellent skincare routine for those with combination skin.  It moisturizes and soothes the dry patches, which for me tend to flare up in the winter, and yet still keeps the oil slick at bay.  Crazy how a product is able to do that!

I also tried two products from the RESIST line:

• RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator
• RESIST Ultimate Anti-Aging Hand Cream

I had actually tried the Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator before.  I use it when I want some extra moisture for night time since it doesn’t wear as well under makeup for me as some other products. I also like it as a sort of spot treatment for my dry patches.

The hand cream wasn’t quite what I had hoped. It has sunscreen in it to help keep away signs of aging. It’s a decent moisturizer but I was hoping for something more suited for severely dry hands that I could wear at night.  For a daytime moisturizer, this gets the job done.

One of the best things about Paula’s Choice products is that they aren’t ridiculously overpriced. Yes, you can find cheaper products but the price for the quality of these products is an excellent value.  The products actually WORK and that’s PRICELESS!
