Before it was released on video, I had no idea what Rango was about. I knew it was a kids movie, but that’s it. Then we had the opportunity to review it. It came at the perfect time. I needed to get some work done and a good movie is always my go-to, in-a-pinch lifesaver to keep my kids entertained and quiet. So, I put Rango in the DVD player, got the kids situated and sat down to work. The first 15 minutes I got nothing done. Not because my kids weren’t watching the movie, but because I was. I thought it was funny and it was distracting me. I had to make myself focus. On work, not the movie. Somehow I managed to tear my eyes away. I couldn’t tell you what the movie was about but my kids who watched the whole thing without making a peep. That’s a hit in my book. I’ve heard mixed reviews from other parents. A close friend of mine said she didn’t like the movie because the characters weren’t “cute”. I suppose it’s all a matter of opinion but like I said, a movie that entertains my kids is a win.
Released on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 15, 2001, Rango is a comedic and imaginative movie from Paramount Home Entertainment. Featuring the voice of Johnny Depp as the main character, as well as other notable actors, the film will have adults and kids alike laughing at this ordinary pet lizard inadvertently finds himself as Sheriff of the city of Dirt. Like many children’s movies these days, adults will find humor in some of the movie’s content. What’s not to like about a chameleon named Rango dressed in a hawaiian shirt who is also an aspiring actor?
