This review is written by one of our guest bloggers, Rachel, who has recently become a stay at home mom to a brand new baby boy and beautiful 9 year old daughter.
Research by leading child development experts suggests that focusing on high-contrast images is the first step to picture recognition in newborn babies. It is clear to me that my one month old son loves anything high contrast to look at – his favorite things to focus on are the dark wood blinds with light coming through, the dark ceiling fan against the white ceiling, and this book – a 10×10 board book with an one black and white image on each page. We set this book in front of him and he was enthralled. he will look at it for quite a while, and gets all excited, flailing his little arms and legs around like crazy.
