Looking for a unique gift idea for the holidays? Look no further! Sand Dune Publishing Company has come out with a line of keepsake journals to give to the special people in your life.
Each journal is hard covered and spiral bound. It measures 6.5″ x 7.25″ and contains 35-45 questions for your loved one to answer. It is currently available in 8 different formats- Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother, Sister, Daughter, Son, Family Reunion, Girl and Honey. The cover of each journal looks like the one to the left, each in a different color. The books retail for $14.95 plus shipping.
The idea is to give the book to the person of your choice and have them fill out the answers to the questions. I think this is an especially neat idea for kids to give to their grandparents to help them better understand who they are. What a great keepsake it would become! A hand written journal with answers to questions such as “What were some of your favorite things to do as a child?” and “What are your memories of the day you and Grandfather were married?”
I received the Mom book to review and got a chance to see what an entire book looks like. All of the questions are simple and fun to answer. There is adequate space for each response and a section in the back titled “other stuff” with several blank pages for any additional thoughts. In the mom book, my favorite chapter was “What about Me?” where it asked questions such as “What do you remember most about the time you were pregnant with me?” and “What characteristics do you and I share now?”
I think this type of journal is a great idea and would be fun for a lot of people. I also think that it might be fun in reverse! Instead of giving the journal to a love one to fill out for yourself, it would be neat to fill one out for your loved one and giving it to them as a gift.

This is a really cute idea, and something I would defiitely be interested in. I love the Mom journal, and the Honey journal. Shortly after having my son, and friend of mine told me to start keeping a journal, to give to my son when he got older. Well, I never did, and I regret it. Having this journal would be perfect. It would help me remember things that I may have forgotten. The Honey journal is also very cute. Sometimes I forget to show my husband as much love as I show my baby son. This journal would also be something nice to read, many years from now, when we are much older. Cute ideas!

It’s a tough choice. I’d love to give them to my mother and father but my father would laugh. I think my best bet would be to choose the Grandma and Grandpa books and give them to my parents when I become pregnant, as a present for them to give my child when it is born.
Jenny says
I love that the questions are casual, but also revealing. I feel I could answer them without getting uncomfortable. If I had two of the brother ones, I would try to work up the nerve to give them to my brothers. They are 15 and 17 years older than me, so we didn’t grow up together and I don’t know them as well as I’d like.

It is hard to pick just 2. I would want 1 to be the Dad book, for my in-laws to fill out…for their son, my 1st husband & father to my 2 oldest children, who passed away. My wife’s is this month. As I get older I appreciate these more and we are sharing stories and pictures more. This would be very timely for us.

I love the fact that the journals ask questions so it’s an easy way to record special details. I also love that it would be such a special keepsake for the generations to come. I would love for my grandparents to leave something like this for me and my children! Picking two would be hard. But I think I’d probably have to go with Grandma and Grandpa ones.
