I was so excited to get a chance to review the Ultreo Ultrasound Toothbrush. This scientifically based product was developed at the University of Washington and it’s offices are in Redmond, WA, not too far from where I grew up.
I couldn’t wait to try it. It arrived on my doorstep early the other morning before I’d had a chance to brush my teeth- perfect! I quickly opened it up, read over the information manual and promptly tried it out. Two minutes later my mouth felt as clean as if I had just come straight from the dentist.
This toothbrush isn’t your ordinary toothbrush. The owner’s manual says “Ultreo’s bristle action creates bubbles that are powerfully activated by nearly 4 million cycles of ultrasound energy per brushing channeled by a proprietary ultrasound waveguide for an incredible, long-lasting feeling of clean.”
The Ultreo features:
- An auto shut off time that automatically shuts off the toothbrush after the dental- professional recommended 2 minutes of brushing time.
- A brushing interval signal that beeps every 30 seconds to help you clean all areas of your mouth equally
- A slim-wasted handle that is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in your hand for comfort and easy maneuvering.
- Charger base and wall plug that is ultra-compact and ultra-sleek with a universal voltage wall plug.
- Sonic action bristles with power tip that creates microbubbles and cleans away plaque upon contact
- Ultrasound waveguide that channels ultrasound energy into the microbubbles
- Ultra-slim neck that allows for easy access to the back of the mouth
- Snap-on brush head that is easy to remove and a snap to clean
- Programmable ultrasound brush head replacement indicator that tells you when it’s time to change your brush head. Programmable for 1 or 2 users per handle.
- Battery charge status indicator that tells you the level of charge on the battery. You can use the Ultreo up to 28 brushings without additional charging.
The Ultreo also comes with a really nice plastic travel caddy to keep it clean and safe when travelling away from home.
With the Ultreo it takes just two minutes twice a day for cleaner, whiter teeth and healthy gums.
The Ultreo retails for $149.99 and comes with a 2 year warranty and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. It is available at http://www.ultreo.com/, amazon.com, Frontgate, Walgreens, Drugstore.com, Bartell Drugs and other fine retailers.
To receive a free brush head for the Ultreo, check out Send a Smile.
A few days after receiving the Ultreo, I heard the familiar sound the toothbrush makes when it’s time to switch sections of the mouth coming from the bathroom while I was making breakfast. I should have known my husband couldn’t keep his hands off of any sort of electrical gadget. Guess we’ll have to get an extra head. In the meantime, I’ll let him keep it for himself since he says “my mouth has never felt cleaner!” In fact, he tried to convince me that I should CHARGE people to enter our drawing to win one- it’s that good!
Feeling Lucky? Enter to win an Ultreo of your very own. It’s free to enter- all you have to do is leave a comment on why oral health care is so important (google it if you need to!) You have until midnight CST on Friday October 10th to enter. A winner will be selected by random number generator and notified by email. The winner will have 48 hours to respond with their mailing address or an alternate will be drawn.

This looks so wonderful! I would love to try one! Oral health has always been important to my family. I was taught the importance as a child of brushing my teeth properly and caring for my mouth to keep not only my mouth healthy, but the rest of the body too. Poor oral hygiene can lead to other very serious conditions such as Cardiovascular Disease and Osteoporosis.

I would love to try this. I currently use a waterpik instead of dentalflossing. I think it works better.

Oral hygeine is very important because the germs and infection caused by poor dental hygeine can KILL you. A very funny author, Lewis Grizzard, died because the infection from a tooth travelled down to his heart and infected it, ultimately killing him. He did have a heart condition which made the infection even deadlier to him. But infection from teeth can also travel to the brain and kill you that way. So, throw that toothbrush away at your own peril.

Oral health is important for a variety of reasons, both for health and social etiquette. Just go to the local nursing home and watch someone try to “gum” a sandwich. That should be enough to motivate everyone to take care of their teeth.

Oral health care is important to me because my family has a history of gum disease. I don’t want to get it too! My daughter is only 5 months old, but it’s important for me because I want to set a good example for her. I don’t want to have to deal with the question “Why do I have to do this…you don’t do it…!!”
I have taught my daughter this, and she ‘teaches’ her baby cousin. Brushing kills bacteria when can have a party in your mouth. It can cause gum diseases and also leave you with bad teeth as you get older. She’s seen her grandma’s teeth, and now she brushes every day!
Oral Health care is so important because Oral disease is one of the top leading diseases and also has shown to lead to heart attacks.

oral health is important because dental work is expensive
The teeth we take care of as youngsters, are the teeth we have to live with our whole lives. It’s easier to brush thoroughly now, than to pay for dentures at 40. Thanks for the great contest!
What a wonderful prize. This toothbrush sounds so awesome.

We have stressed to our kids the importance of taking good care of your teeth and we mainly do this by setting an example for them. I’d really love to win this toothbrush. It sounds so wonderful. Oral health is important for number of reasons. Not only can it be very expensive to fix your mouth because of cavities and poor care. But it can lead to other health problems including heart attacks, strokes and gum disease. If you do not take care of your teeth you will end up paying the price later and it will be painful.

I really want to take care of my teeth. My Daddy didn’t and he wound up with a mouth full of false teeth!
I have never had a cavity, but the last time I went to the dentist they told me they would allow me some slack on the plaque since I am prego.
I was like…NO…I don’t need slack, I need to do better. And what could help more than this awesome toothbrush?

Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease.
You only get one set of adult teeth and you need them to eat. By going to see your dentist every six months can help you avoid any big problems in the future. Most ins. cover your cleaning for free so why not have a beautiful smile and visit your dentist.
Taking care of your teeth helps your entire health out!

Untreated infections and diseases of the mouth and teeth have the potential to make a person extremely ill. Keeping my teeth clean is very important to me!
Oral health is the beginning of good personal hygiene. The alternative can be disfiguring and disabling, if not fatal.
I have always wanted one of these. I have sensitive gums and it is difficult for me to find a soft enough toothbrush. Oral health is extremely important, not just because of plague on your teeth, but plague on your arteries. Infections can easily travel from your mouth to other organs in your body. I see my hygenist every 6 months for a cleaning!
Besides just maintaining a clean mouth for hygenic purposes, oral health is directly related to the spread of several diseases throughout the body.
Oral hygiene is important to your overall health, plus I don’t want to loose my teeth at an early age! 🙂 I would love this. My kids and husband always steal my toothbrush with this it would be mine and I could have some claim on it esp. if I won it!
Thanks,
Kim

The best reason I can think of to maintain good dental hygeine is that poor dental hygeine leads to a shortened life – even in dogs.
Oral health is important in preventing tooth decay, tool loss, gingivitis, and other problems that occur in the mouth.

Recent research indicates that there may be links between periodontal disease and other health problems. For instance, pregnant women with periodontal disease are at increased risk for pre-term labor.

It’s very important to be vigilant with your oral health. Brushing, flossing and seeing your dentist every six months will help prevent receding gums and periodontal disease.
I feel that the effort that you put into oral hygeine is just a small part of living a healthy lifestyle. Brushing and flossing takes so little time & effort.

Oral health is important as it deters other health problems.
I believe that oral health needs to be taught at an early age. I know people that did not or could not afford dental visits as children or they weren’t taught by their parents how important it is to take care of your teeth and as a result of that, they are wearing dentures now. I was fortunate as a child to be able to have regular dental visits ( even tho at that time dental visits weren’t near as gentle as they are now ).
When my grandchildren are over and they are brushing their teeth I make sure that I explain to them how important it is for them to take good care of their teeth now.
I’ve always heard that your teeth are meant to last a lifetime. Thank you

Aside from the visual appearance of clean teeth (which to be honest is more for people looking AT you!) good oral health is becoming more recognized as important to total health. This is especially true when you consider the effect bacterial peridontal disease can have on your cardiac system.

Oral helcare is so important because your smile, or lack thereof is your first impression. With yuck mouth you really only leave a bad impression. Also, a healthy set of teeth and gums means there are probably less other health problems. Your mouth shows your illnesses, and can lead to them too. Sinus problems?? Go to the dentist. Better to have good oral hygine than that problem.
Oral health is the keystone to whole body health. Bad teeth can lead tp heart disease, blood infections, and worse. Thanks for the chance.

As a woman, oral health is extremely important to me…especially during the child-bearing years. Gum disease has been linked with having preterm and low birth weight babies. What better reason is there to take care of your teeth, than your unborn child?
[email protected]
Thank you for the giveaway, I could really use a toothbrush like this! With 3 young kids at home, taking the time for my oral hygiene has really been problematic for me. My dentist keeps telling me to get a sonicare toothbrush, but seriously, oh the cost! At the same time, as I age, I can see the decline in my body’s ability to just take care of itself without any intervention, and it’s not pretty. I can imagine the problems I might have in 20 years if I don’t step in to take care of things better than I have been.
Oral health is important to me because I know if I brush and floss every day it will lessen my chance of getting heart disease. Also my dental check-ups go so smoothly.
Not taking care of your teeth and gums is just plain gross. A little bit of oral health effort helps the whole body stay in good shape.
Oral Health is important because if you neglect your mouth it can lead to loads of other problems in the rest of your body. Plus poor oral hygiene is yucky to look at 🙂
Oral health is important because when we’re kissing our little babies we don’t want to be spreading oral bacteria to them!

Oral health is very important because heart health is related to gum health. Also, I have a friend who had sinus cancer that was discovered by — you guessed it — his dentist.
The health of your teeth is often tied to your overall health.
Besides only having one set of real teeth for life, the finding that bacteria from our mouths can go to our hearts and cause damage is definitely more than enough information to prove the importance of oral health. Oh, my, do I know how important oral health is! I got a bad cavity while pregnant with my first child. That’s when I learned that cavities and gum disease can be very dangerous to an unborn child. It can cause all kinds of problems including VERY premature birth.

Years ago, it was very common to have many cavities. In fact, it was common to lose your teeth and wear dentures. Now adays, this is becoming much more rare, why, because of the advances in oral hygiene. Oral hygiene is vital to keeping your teeth and your body healthy.
Oral health care is important because there is actually a strong association between gum disease and heart disease!
Oral health is important because if you don’t take care of your teeth you can become susceptible to heart disease.

What a great brush! My sonicare just died and I’m not looking forward to buying another!
my mother is a dental hygentist so i know all about the importance of oral health. also, because i know someone who had to have a root canal for not taking proper care of his teeth and let me tell you….it sounded very painful! thanks for this great giveaway! yyeres at gmail dot com
This looks great. Oral health is so important because plaque on your teeth can travel througout the body and cause plaque in your arteries.
Poor oral health and untreated oral diseases and conditions can have a significant impact on quality of life. And in many cases, the condition of the mouth mirrors the condition of the body as a whole. Recent reports indicate a relationship between periodontal (gum) disease and stroke, heart disease, and pre-term low-birth-weight babies. Likewise, more than 90 percent of all systemic diseases have oral manifestations, meaning your dentist may be the first health care provider to diagnose a health problem.
It is important to keep you looking younger and to help you keep your own teeth for a long time!
I’m for anything that will help keep my family’s teeth healthy and our dentist bills lower.
With four children oral health is a top priority in our family. Early start is the best way to prolonged health.

I could really use a new toothbrush but a good one is soo expensive. I found the oral health is important for the body and good body health is important for the mouth. A dentist can sometimes tell that you have a medical problem just by seeing signs of problems in your mouth. Thank you!
Oh I know exactly why oral health is so important!
I have always been very adamant about teeth cleaning and flossing. An untreated abcess or infection can actually lead to heart problems.
They say that you can judge a persons general health by the shape their teeth are in and it’s true!
My dentist just informed me that because I have been overzealous in brushing too hard that I have actually contributed to the recession of my gums. He suggests a water pick daily now.
This toothbrush is just what the dr. ordered! (well, not mine but you know…) It would be so wonderful to own one of these!
Oral Health is important because you only get to keep the teeth you take care for.
oral health is important because it can lead to other health issues
Oral health affects other areas of your body. Build-up of plaque on your teeth can also lead to strokes.

Oral health can affect the condition of your other body systems. Keeping a healthy mouth and teeth is essential for optimum over all health.
I think I would give this to my son. I’ve been trying to impress upon him why good brushing is so important. I have to do a teeth check every time he brushes and if I can still scrape off any plaque, he has to brush again. I fell like I’ve tried everything (even those staining pills from the dentist) but maybe he needs a toothbrush to do more of the work for him.
We both have very deep grooves in our molars and careless brushing automatically leads to cavities. I don’t want him to have the same problems I did when I was young.
Oral health is soooo important as you don’t want periodontal disease. I have to go to the dentist and periodontist 4x a year. I’ve spent so much money on my teeth. My doctor’s are hoping to save my teeth and I’m only 44.
when i was younger i wasn’t that careful about oral health and know i’m paying for it, so i’m trying to be extra careful now

I believe oral health is truly important for everyone…but I have noticed that as I’ve had kids, my own oral health has declined a bit. Something about paying more attention to other’s little mouths and paying less attention to one’s own. Not a good idea. Good health does begin with good oral health. I’m crossing my fingers for a chance to try one of these toothbrushes.
My little one just had her first cavity, and it was quite a nightmare! Plus the bacteria led to canker sores, which made it hard for her to eat. We are very careful now!

Brush your teeth at least twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste. Replace your toothbrush every three months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won’t do a good job of cleaning your teeth.
Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner. Decay–causing bacteria still linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach.
Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams.

Oral health is important because you need to set a good example if you are a parent. I didn’t go to the dentist for a couple years, and when my baby was up through the night, I would pick at food, be too tired to brush, etc… well it all added up and 2 root canals later, we have a large dentist bill because of ME! So I changed my ways and visit the dentist regularly to set a good example. Because of the dentist bill for me, I can’t afford an ultrasound toothbrush!!! Don’t make the same mistakes I did!!!

I know first hand why oral care is so important!
About 5 years ago I had a cavity that ignored before I knew it my tooth was infected. It got out of hand so fast my entire face was swollen and it was starting to close off my breathing. It was insane. I was in the hospital for an entire week and at one point it got so bad that I had emergency surgery. It was a nightmare and I could have died, all because of one little tooth!
Oral care is now on the top of my priority list and I tell everyone that will listen to take care of your teeth! After all they are your “money makers” as my husband says. If for no other reason, first impressions are real, you have bad teeth and people notice!
It is important for your overall health.

oral health care is important for numerous reasons. if your oral healthcare is bad then it may lead to further medical issues which in turn is costly, unattractive and can become a barrier for advancment in jobs etc. due to the condition of your mouth. it also shows what type of person you are. if you care about yourself you are more likely to care for others
My sister-in-law (33!) had periodontitis from untreated gingivitis. This is a progression that will ultimately affect you first your gums then permanent damage to your teeth and jaw!
Thanks for the opportunity!

Oral healthcare is so important b/c nothing is like your real teeth. My mom does not have many of her teeth and she always tells us to do anything to care for them.
Thanks for the opportunity!

Great giveaway, I have 2 lil boys and have been trying to teach them the inmportance of oral health and teaching them about brushing their teeth the correct way. They would love this as would I. 😉

It is imperative to brush and floss after meals and snacks, but choice in diet also affects oral health -a diet loaded with sugars and carbs will take its toll on teeth pretty quickly. It’s good to instill proper habits while one is young and there’s time to correct bad habits, otherwise we adults only get one set of teeth and that’s it!

I am an adult in braces who also needs 6 dental implants. Believe me when I say I know how important oral care is! I need this toothbrush, really bad.
Oral health care is so important because it can cause so many problems for your whole body if it’s not done correctly!

Oral health is important if you wanna keep your teeth past 50.
Oral care is so important because i recently learned that a mother who has cavities can actually pass on those yuckies to their little ones… i did’nt believe it at first but i confirmed it with the dentist! I would feel so guilty to give my little ones unneeded pain!
Your Oral Health is a good indicator of your overall health. It wasn’t until I chipped two of my teeth early in my pregnancy that I learned I had a calcium deficency, which could have cause major problems with my pregnancy.

Millions of children have dental problems so severe that it impacts their ability to eat, sleep and learn. American children miss more than 50 million hours of school each year due to dental-related illness.
Oral health is so important. As only someone with a mouthful of fillings can attest, I want better for my child. Thanks for the contest. Charlotte

I am paranoid about how excess plaque can lead to heart problems. How awful is that?
Also, dental hygiene is very important for one’s social life! And I would rather buy a lot of things than my husband’s $700 crown on his tooth!

Oral health is important not only to avoid, or delay, receding gums & tooth loss, but b/c periodontal disease can lead to health problems in other parts of the body. This is one reason why vets advise pet owners to get their pets' teeth cleaned regularly.

Oral health is so important because it is a vital part of your overall health. Think about it, if you have a problem with your teeth, and can’t eat??? I think that there should be one type of health insurance and it should cover dental health too. It is all the same thing!!

Having healthy teeth and gums is one more way to keep your whole self happy and healthy. Being a good example teaches little ones to follow suit and maintain a healthy lifestyle, too. Thanks for the great offer! [email protected]
Oral Health Care is so important because a clean mouth helps keep a body clean. It is a FACT that bad oral care is linked to other health issues. It really does not take that long to floss and brush at least 2x daily. The healthy smile you share with others spreads, they see your nice smile and they smile….and that is a great thing to share!
My son has fought me for a long time over his oral care, basically he had been trying to be lazy. I have now formed a habit with him in his teeth and it is automatic for him to brush and floss. No cavities at all so far (knock on wood). This Ultreo Ultrasound Toothbrush sounds wonderful the way you described it, we would love to win and try it out ourselves. Thank you for the chance and good luck to everyone! (Happy Halloween-don’t forget to brush after those treats!).
It has been proven that poor oral hygiene can lead to Cardiovascular Disease and Osteoporosis. A visit to the dentist can be costly and why would anyone want to have bad breath. Wonderful contest, count me in to spin and win

Keeping up on oral health can benefit your body from developing other health issues (heart, cancer, bone).
I would love to have one of these!
Oral health is of the utmost importance in that it affects so many other areas of our lives and bodies. It also saves on the pocketbook in that dental restoration is expensive. Thanks
This is a great giveaway! Something so many people can use, but who can afford to go buy one right now. Your teeth are so closely related to the rest of your body. Some people consider dentistry cosmetic, but it really is a health issue. I’ve heard of people dying from infections in their teeth (the infection usually spreads somewhere). Thanks for giving it away!

I enjoy eating and want to be able to do that with my own teeth. I brush and floss daily.

Oral health is important because lets be honest, when you meet someone and your first impression is that their teeth/breath are gross that’s a turnoff.
Oral health is important to me because I like to feel a clean mouth and see my teeth white. I wish I could use the teeth whiteners now but I’m nursing my baby so I can’t. This tooth brush would be perfect
Home oral care is very important especially when you have crappy dental insurance like I do.
They’ve found a link between oral health and heart health!
My Dad always told me to take care of your teeth, because replacements aren’t the same as originals.
With Oral Health Prevention is the key. Plaque is the first culprit but that can lead to tooth decay and gingivitis. Now nobody seems to care about gingivitis, but once you have had a periodontal cleaning once or twice you start thinking very seriously about gingivitis. It is 100X more unpleasant than your standard cleaning and in fact my first one was more unpleasant than the root canal I also had. I have been working REALLY hard with my kids so that they have the best dental hygiene they can i.e. brushing, flossing, and fluoride rinse. They both use an Oral B electronic Toothbrush and I think they would LOVE the Ultreo.
Thanks for the contest.

Could seriously use this type of brush… Update me on gmail via flaredz0ne (where that is a zero), thanks!
Good oral health is important to me, because gross teeth give me the eebie jeebies!

It doesn’t take much time with some dental floss to realize just what your mouth is going to smell like if you STOP observing basic dental hygiene. A tooth brush like this one would make life much simpler, but still won’t substitute for the self-discipline to USE it several times a day…
Give me good news, via gmail, with d3addr0p (where both BIG characters are numbers), please and thanks!
I posted a note on my family blog 🙂
Gum disease can lead to so many things so it’s important to keep your teeth clean and healthy.
One thing I’ve always taken care of is my teeth. I feel that your mouth is one of the major things to care for. If your mouth is healthy you will be healthy.
oral health care is important to me because i love to laugh and tell jokes, and i don’t want to be known as the funny girl with the yellow grill, ewe!
Awesome giveaway – thank you! Here’s my long and boring story about oral health.
A friend of mine has teeth that were so far gone (they were black when she smiled) that she scared me into going back to the dentist after 10 years of personal absenteeism. Unfortunately, I picked the WRONG ONE. A year later, I went to another (better) dentist, who found out that I have to have 2-3 crowns and a bunch of fillings that the other dentist missed.
Ugh.
So now, I have to take VERY good care of my teeth, if I want to reach middle age with my own teeth in place. I haven’t yet found a brush that fits in my admittedly small mouth and allows me to fully clean everything. 🙁
Oral health is important because problems can effect the rest of your body. While you can put some issues off, you can’t with oral health – you may not be able to eat at some point!
Thanks!

I just had a mechanical aortic heart valve implanted in August and subsequently, my oral health has become increasingly more important than usual. My cardiologist indicated that any oral bacterial infections has the potential to migrate to my new mechanical valve which could lead to a serious health risk including an aneurism and/or stroke.
Oral Health is important because there are more bacteria in anyones mouth than the number of people on the planet. So Oral health is vital aspect of cleanliness and to prevent the bacteria from overgrowing and causing health problems. Thanks to the R&D to develop great products like this. I would like to try one.
