Alright. I am back from my 1st register rewards trip to Walgreens. I can definitely say that it is not something I will keep up like CVS. It is MUCH more confusing and the register rewards expire much more quickly than the CVS ECBs do.
Here is what I purchased:
Transaction 1:
4 Herbal Essence haircares
2 Aussie haircares
$20 total and used a b2g1 free coupon and 2 coupons that were $2 off each, so I spent over $13 oop and got $12 RR back great deal I will say!
Transaction 2:
3 Pepsi products
2 Ivory 4 pack bar bundles
1 more Sunday paper for $1.50 (great coupons this week to double at CVS hehe)
I had a 25 cent coupon (I wanted Zest, but they were out no biggie)
I used the $12 RR from Transaction 1 and paid over $3 oop. Another GREAT deal
But…it only printed my $2 RR from the Pepsi deal and not the $4 soap. The manager could not figure out why and to make a long story short, I ended up getting my $4 RR, but after I left I figured out why. I couldn’t use the $12 RR from the shampoo on the soap b/c they are both P&G. I didn’t realize that. That was VERY frustrating.
All-in-all it was a GREAT deal at Walgreens if it could work out right. I figured out what I should have done differently. I am not opposed to trying the RR again, but I will definitely not be a regular like I am at CVS. The biggest downfall for me is having to pay attention to what you can and can’t use the RR on. They also expire very quickly (within the next 2 weeks) which is crazy to me.
I just wanted to update you with how my first Walgreens trip went!
I made my first Walgreens RR attempt tonight and it was pretty successful. Like you, I found the whole thing more complicated than CVS. I had to have the cashier call the manager over twice, but they were very nice and we did get it all worked out. It really was my lack of understanding of how RR worked than any issue with Walgreens. Anyway, I got $70.08 worth of stuff for $26 oop. Not too bad!
