Royal Berkey Water Filter 3.25 Gallons Review & #Giveaway

My family drinks a lot of water.  Typically our only beverage options are milk or water.  My kids play a lot of sports so they are constantly filling big water bottles to take to practice.  I hate buying bottled water but we like our water to taste good and not contain any pollutants.  The Royal Berkey water filter was a good solution for us.  This large capacity water filter holds 3.25 gallons of water.  It’s great for home use but can also be used for outdoor activities and is great in unexpected emergencies where access to clean water might not be available.

This system includes upper and lower stainless steel chamber, 2 Black Berkey Purification Elements, 1 stainless steel lid, 1 spigot, 2 wingnuts, 2 washers, 1 priming button, 2 blocking plugs and 1 rubber gasket to protect the base.

The Royal Berkey is pretty simple to put together.  It only requires priming the filters then screwing them into the unit along with the pouring spout and plugging the two extra holes (which are for optional extra filters for faster filtering).  You’ll also need to screw on the handle to the lid.

The unit comes with written directions however I suggest watching a quick video on YouTube to assure that you’re putting the washers where they belong.  Assembly only takes a few minutes.  Then you’ll need to run a batch of water through.  You can conduct a dye test to see how the filters can filter out red dye.  It’s pretty amazing!

The Royal Berkey system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts, and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes.

Up to 4 PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Filters can be installed in the lower chamber if desired.

I love the highly polished look of the AISI 304 stainless steel.  It’s so shiny! With the 2 Black Berkey elements, it can purify up to 4 gallons per hour.  You can expand the system to include 4 elements for faster filtering. Each Black Berkey Filter is designed to purify approximately 3,000 gallons of water before needing replacement.  With the 2 filters in the Berkey system it will purify approximately 6,000 gallons of water before replacement is recommended.

This system provides great tasting drinking water for my family and actually helps us stay better hydrated.  With the dispenser sitting on the counter, it’s a reminder to drink more water!  You can find out more about this system and others at www.theberkey.com.
