Save money by actually setting it aside and not spending it. One of my favorite and easiest ways to do this is by saving change. When you spend cash, save your coins. A large water jug works well. I also do this in my check register since I rarely spend cash. When I deduct an amount from my balance I always drop the change and round up. You’ll be amazed how quickly it adds up!
If you save actual change, you will have to roll it yourself. Banks have different policies about how it is done, so check with your local branch before you start. Coin counting machines which are often found inside grocery stores are another option. Most of the time there is a fee for this service. However, many of these machines give the option of turning your coins into gift cards. If you chose that option, the counting fee is often waived.
Want to keep saving? Cash in your coins and deposit it into a high interest savings account or CD. Grow your money! (more on this topic coming soon!)

Years ago when the state quarters were released my husband decided that any we received as change would go into a container as our “retirement” fund! For years my kids thought you could not spend them – that they weren’t real money! We have now saved over $400! It’s fun to count it each year and see how much we save!
