Schoola: 20 Days Of School — Help Fund an Art Program!

Creativity and having a creative outlet are important to me. I want my children to have an opportunity to explore different types of art and ways to express themselves. Art programs at school meant a lot to me growing up. In my elementary days I recall signing up for after school activities that were art related such as pottery classes and art exploration. These were an extra charge for my parents and money was tight. I was still able to attend but due to the extra cost, I’m sure some kids that wanted to join in weren’t able to. It wasn’t until middle school and high school that art programs during school hours were available.
For my own kids, I want them to have these types of opportunities as elementary students. I’m glad that many schools are grasping the importance of art and adding more of it to their curriculums with the help of special funding. My oldest daughter will be starting Kindergarten this year. She’s very artistic and I can already see the effects it has on her. Drawing and coloring are her go-to activities when she’s tired or upset about something. It calms her and takes her to a happy place. I want to see her blossom with art in school, to gain confidence in herself and boost her self esteem. Art is uplifting! Every child should have access to art programs.
Schoola is helping Yick Wo Elementary School to fund an art program. They have a goal of $25,000 and we can help them reach it! Art is one of the most important parts of many student’s lives. It helps teach them that it’s ok to be creative and take risks at school not only in the art room, but in the other subjects they study as well. It’s well known that art programs are beneficial to students however they are still not covered by most public school’s budgets. The parents at Yick Wo Elementary want to make sure that their students have an art class anyway. Schoola is forming a community to help them achieve their goal. YOU can help them do it! Here’s how:
- Shop on Schoola — for every transaction via this link, Schoola will donate $1 to Yick Wo Elemenatary School. They’ve got name brands at a fraction of the cost so get a jump on your back-to-school shopping and stretch your budget a lot further!
