Several times a week I make my family smoothies either for breakfast or snack. It’s a healthy yet yummy treat that is easy to make. Since we enjoy them so much, I wanted to share them with our friends and family over the 4th of July weekend. I packed up my HealthMaster blender and supplies and we headed to “the island”. Don’t let the word island fool you into thinking tropical warm breezes- we live in the Pacific Northwest after all. We spent the 4th bundled up in jackets but were lucky enough to avoid the rain. The 4th was a very busy day as we ran an art sale on the front lawn. People were coming and going and between making smoothies and chasing after my kids I completely forgot to take pictures. I am sure we were a sight with our bright, festive TROPICAL looking hurricane cups but dressed for winter. For this occasion, I made banana-orange-strawberry smoothies using frozen strawberries, frozen concentrate orange juice, vanilla yogurt, fresh bananas, milk and ice. I don’t follow a recipe but for our family of four I usually use two bananas, about a 1/4 can of frozen OJ, 1/3 of a large carton of yogurt and a full tray of ice. I add about a half of a bag of frozen fruit and enough milk to make it a drinkable consistency. It makes approximately 2 large glasses and 2 small glasses.

DOLE FROZEN SMOOTHIE TIPS (provided by DOLE)
- Here’s a little secret: with DOLE Frozen Fruit, there’s no need to add ice to your smoothie. It’s already naturally cold and delicious! (we like ours extra icy so we still add ice even when using frozen fruit)
- Unlike pre-made smoothie mixes that can be surprisingly unhealthy and lack variety, DOLE Frozen Fruit allows you to tailor your smoothie to your tastes exactly! And you’ll be catching up on your daily fruit and vegetable servings at the same time.
- Smoothies made with DOLE Frozen Fruit are also a great way to take and keep extra weight off, especially during (gasp!) bathing suit season. Naturally fat-free and low-calorie, DOLE Frozen Fruit helps you and your family stay happy AND healthy
- Here are a few smoothie recipes to get the creative “juices” flowing! And you can find many more varieties at www.Dole.com:

- Pineapple Berry Smoothie with DOLE Frozen Strawberries or Raspberries
I didn’t get very creative with our variety of smoothies because I was actually unable to find DOLE frozen fruit at ANY of our local stores. I emailed customer service and they replied with several store that might carry it but I still didn’t have any luck. You can contact your local grocery and request that they stock it. I would have done this but I didn’t have enough time before my smoothie party. You can also email Dole Customer Service at [email protected] which is what I did and they notified the regional manager of my request. I’m hoping our local stores will start carrying it soon so I can switch up our smoothie menu!
