A couple of weeks ago we moved from Washington state to Arizona. My kids started online school last week. It had already been in session for about a month. This week we learned that schools will be opening up soon. We have the option of continuing online or sending our kids to school. While I still have concerns regarding COVID, I’m more concerned with their education and social/emotional well being. For our family, we believe the rewards outweigh the risks and have decided to send our kids back. We know there are safety measures in place to help keep students and staff healthy and will be doing our part as well to keep them as healthy as possible.
One way we can do that is to make sure that our kids have access to hand sanitizer at all times and are using it as needed. Just like with masks, I’ve found that when they like something they are much more likely to use it. Starling Skincare offers all-natural, hand sanitizers that clean and moisturize in one easy step with plant based ingredients. The come in two scents: Orange Punch and Lavender Fresh. They’re quick-drying, hypoallergenic and allergen-free so they’re safe to use at school and no rinsing is required so that can be used anytime, anywhere. They are also gluten free, cruelty free and toxin free.
My kids love the Orange punch scent which kind of reminds me of a creamsicle. It is naturally scented with sweet orange, mandarin and cedar wood — all from essential oils. I personally like the Lavender Fresh one because it is so calming! It is made with lavender, bergamot and mint essential oils. These hand sanitizers come in a 2 pack for $12. They are liquid and dispensed via a pump style cap. To use, shake well and apply a dime-sized amount to your palms and rub vigorously until absorbed. You only need a small amount of product to sanitize your hands. Made with 61% Organic Sugar Cane Alcohol, they meet the CDC’s recommendations and are effective against the most common germs.
The travel sized bottles are perfect for sending with my kids to school. Making sure they have (and wear!) their masks and have (and use!) hand sanitizer will give me a little peace of mind in a few weeks when my kids head back into school. I’ll be trying my best to focus on the positives and being at peace with the things I cannot control.
