I love shopping at off-price retailers such as T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. Both of these places are perfect for holiday shopping whether it be for gifts, holiday home decorating or the perfect holiday outfit.
Recently I was sent on a mission to check them out. While I had been to each of these stores before, it had been awhile and I was surprised as to what I have been missing! Not only do they have name brands at great prices but the selection was awesome! I spent a lot of time browsing around. There was so much to look at! I was able to find unique items that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. They had a large selection home team sports apparel and gift items such as jerseys (I found one for $15!!), sweatshirts, t-shirts, bar ware, alarm clocks, night lights, even Christmas ornaments and cards! It was so hard to decide what to get for my sports fanatic hubby!
The home decor section was wonderful too! There were so many cute and affordable holiday items. I had been searching for an advent calendar without much luck. All the ones I had found were high priced but at Marshalls I found the perfect one on clearance for only $11! It was a large plush Santa with numbered pockets in his beard with a candy cane marker to mark the day. I love that it isn’t breakable so my kids will be able to participate in counting down to Christmas for years to come without me worrying about it getting damaged.
T.J. Maxx had many of the same items as Marshalls for the same price however each store varies and no two stores ever have the exact same merchandise (even two of the same store). That’s what makes shopping at these types of places so fun! Each store receives 3 to 4 shipments a week so the selection is always new and fresh.
At T.J. Maxx I found an adorable shirt and matching pair of pants made by Carters on clearance for $3 each for my soon-to-be born daughter. The retail price on the tags totaled $30! I don’t doubt that I saved 60% or even more on the items I purchased at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. I will certainly be going back even after the holidays!
My Tips for Holiday shopping at off-price retailers:
1. Shop often. Multiple shipments each week means the selection is always changing!
2. If you see something you want, snatch it up! It may not be there if you return for it later!
3. When shopping for clothing check different racks for the correct sizes. Often items get mixed up and you might find a size small in the large section.
4. Keep your eye out for clearance items! I was surprised to see so many Christmas items on clearance.
5. Have at least an idea of who you are buying for and what they might like but keep an open mind. The selection of merchandise perfect for gift giving is huge so you might find something you hadn’t thought of for a great price.
6. For savings of 20-60% and to stretch your holiday dollar to the max, be sure to visit T.J. Maxx and Marshalls for all of your gift giving and home decorating needs!
