Raise your hand if you quit exercising when the days started getting shorter and the weather started getting chillier. Even if you work out in a gym, those two things can be motivation killers, at least for me. I stopped going to the gym by the end of September and now as we head into the busiest time of the year, it’s even harder to find the time and motivation to exercise. Who couldn’t use a little inspiration and motivation when it comes to fitness and exercise? Striiv is designed to do both, and so much more. This little gadget is fun and easy to use right out of the box. It features a high resolution touch screen and can easily clip to your keychain, belt or pocket. Striiv will help you get fit, give back and have fun. Here’s how:
Activity based games — All Striiv games are powered by physical activity. The first game, MyLand, features an environment that becomes more enchanted and magical the more you move. It fills with exotic wildlife and plants based on your activity level. Additional games will be added in the future.
Walkathon for Charity — Every step you make with Striive counts towards a charitable donation. Striiv is currently partnered with GlobalLiving to donate clean water to children in South America, a polio vaccine to a child in India or conservation of a large piece of Tanzania’s rainforest for an entire year. There is no cost to the user. New charities will be added over time.
Daily Challenges & Trophies — To help keep you motivated and fit, Striiv provides daily challenges. You can earn rewards and bonues for taking the stairs or walking during your lunch hour. Each challenge is based on real-world distances such as climbing the Eiffel Tower or walking across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Striiv uses TruMotion technology which is always on to detect when you are walking, running or climbing stairs. It syncs to your computer via a USB connection to back up your data, register your donations and update your software. The battery will recharge during the sync process or can be charged via a separate wall charger which is included. Striive would make a great holiday gift to those looking to get fit and give back in the new year. The Striiv device retails for around $100.
