It’s been well over a year since I’ve done any 10 minute challenges. With the New Year approaching I’ve been trying to get organized and think of ways to keep our home more manageable. It reminded me that sometimes as little as 10 minutes can make a huge difference!
So just like I used to, I started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
For my 10 minute challenges I usually try to tackle something that has been bugging me for awhile. This week it was my bathroom counter. When we first moved into our new house about a year ago I was really good about keeping the counters clean. I kept it up for quite awhile but recently I started slacking and things got a little out of hand. I’m embarrassed to show you my “Before” picture but here it is:
So much clutter! It had seriously been bothering me for weeks. I’m not sure why I didn’t take care of it sooner — what’s 10 minutes? I feel so much better now! I was able to put away (almost) everything and clean the counter, sink and mirror. Speaking of the mirror, I can see my next task there —a half wall that has become a hanger for my clothes! Time to set the timer again and get those things hung up and put away! Here’s the pic of what I accomplished in just 10 minutes:
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
