I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Technology is such a blessing. I can’t count how many times I’ve used my iPhone as a much needed distraction for my kids. Hey, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do. I admit, I’ve got my hands full with three little ones and a work at home job. When I’m desperate for a few minutes of quiet, a book on the iPhone always does the trick. XiMADD has lots of great apps for kids. The book The Emperor’s New Clothes, the classic tale by Hans Christian Anderson, is available as a free download for the iPhone or iPad at iTunes. It’s also available on wp7applist for $0.99.
“The Emperor’s New Clothes is a tale by Hans Christian Andersen about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that are invisible to those unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, a child cries out, “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!” The tale has been translated into over a hundred languages.”
Of course, this isn’t your ordinary story book. The pictures respond to your hand gestures and come to life as the pages are turned. Tap on the screen or tilt the device to move and animate objects in the story. I love these interactive books because they keep my kids interested in reading. Rather than a mindless video game, I can feel good about letting my children give me a break by letting the play a book with my phone.
How do you feel about using technology with your kids so you can get a little break?
