I am so excited to share with you The Photographic Life: Photo Tips for Moms!
Moms who want to take better photos of their kids now have a new online resource, thanks to The Photographic Life: Photo Tips for Moms, a new website developed especially for moms to help them take better photos, no matter what type of camera equipment they have. The site was developed by Mary Phillips, a busy Texas mom and professional portrait photographer, who wanted to help other busy moms in an easy-to-understand, jargon-free way.
Membership costs are just $1 trial membership, and after that a very affordable $6 per month. A portion of the membership fees benefits two non-profit children’s charities, The Tiny Sparrow Foundation and Wipe Out Kids Cancers.
I appreciate that there are clear concise tips that you can understand – offering a come as you are to those that want to improve their photography skills – regardless of what kind of cameras are used!
On the site (www.phototipsformoms.com), there are tips on everything from using your iPhone’s camera to the most expensive professional equipment, along with tipsheets, editing advice, software reviews, contests, forums and much more.
Composition & Interaction
Great images are a result of not only where you place your subject, but what you say to them. Many a fun family outing has been ruined by arguing over the pictures. Find ways to spend less time trying to get the shot and more time enjoying the moment.
Our composition tips will cover everything you need to include in your images and everything you need to leave out as well. In our video tutorials, we’ll show you how to get your child’s true personality to shine in front of the camera.
The Power of Light
It sounds complicated and hard, but it doesn’t have to be! Even the simplest of tips will improve your images by leaps and bounds. You can make the best of any camera or any weather by knowing more about light.
We break down our lessons into beginner, intermediate and advanced so you can take your learning as far as you want.
Output & Organization
Presentation is everything! A great picture that is buried on the back of your camera with 100’s of not-so-great ones, just can’t shine the way it should.
Now is the time to clean out your file folders and memory cards. Every month we will give you steps to get organized and inspiration for wall hangings, books and more.
Your family memories are a story and telling it goes far beyond just pressing the button.
All About Gear
Buying a camera is a big investment and it’s hard to walk through a camera store and know how to choose. Most cameras are loaded with features you won’t ever use and it can all get a little overwhelming.
We offer camera reviews and product tours based on a mom’s perspective. Want to know which camera will hold up the best in the bottom of a sticky diaper bag? We’ve got you covered. Need a camera that takes the picture when you press the button instead of 3 seconds after your child has run away… we get that too…
Editing
An image isn’t always finished after you press the button. Most of the time just a few seconds of editing can make the difference between a good shot and a great one.
We guide our members step by step with on screen tutorials in free photo editing programs as well as Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS. Members can browse articles based on the software program they are using or look at the same image adjusted in 2-3 different programs.
