My children are at the perfect age to listen to stories- well, at least my 3 year old. My 1 year old still wants to turn the pages as fast as he can to see all of the pictures. We had the great opportunity to review a very adorable book called The Snowman’s Song written by Marilee Joy Mayfield and illustrations by Tracy La Rue Hohn.
My children are fascinated with snowmen right now. I guess it’s because we have two snowmen that sing and they think it’s hilarious. So, this book was right up our alley. The book contains a CD where the author reads the book while the children can look at the illustrations. I like how the story teaches the kids morals and the illustrations are great! We have the book on our coffee table and everyone who comes over sits to read it.
Here is a synopsis of the book in their words:
A forlorn little snowman hopes, prays andyearns with all his heart for a beautifulmelodic voice so he can rejoice by singingChristmas carols just like human children do.
There is little hope that he will ever havea voice, because the snow world is quietand snowpeople communicate by sensingthoughts and feelings that travel as icedroplets in the swirling cold winter air.
But when a cheery red cardinal awakens hismind and a kind young girl renews his hope,a Christmas miracle happens and thelittle snowman realizes his longed-fordream in a powerful, joyful, unexpected way.
The book retails for $20 normally, but you can get it now for only $16.95! It would make a great gift for anyone during these winter months or great for your home.
