I love thrift shopping. I love the variety and thrill of a good find. I like that I can score brand name items for a fraction of the cost. Often as I’m shopping though, I wish I had someone with me that could guide me on putting outfits together. While I love shopping for clothing, I tend to stick with what I am comfortable with such as jeans and hoodies. I can’t wear that to work though, unfortunately.
When I heard about Wardrobe Box I was really intrigued. I’d heard of clothing subscription boxes before but this one is different because the clothing is secondhand. For more than 25 years The Wardrobe has been outfitting people for work and day-to-day living. Now they are using their high quality inventory to send personally curated Wardrobe Boxes to customers based on their unique style profiles. They have a lofty goal of eliminating clothing insecurity.
I’ll admit, I was skeptical that I’d receive a box of stuff I’d actually like but I was blown away by what I recieved. Each box comes with 4 pieces of clothing and one seasonal accessory. Boxes are available for all genders and style preferences including professional, casual, and dressy and in all sizes XS to 3XL. You can tell them the types of things you are looking for, the brands you like, your favorite colors etc. and they will pull items just for you. You can expect some high-end brands like Vince Camuto, Anthropologie, Tahari by ASL, Free People, J. Crew, and Banana Republic – some new with tags! – and specialty vintage items.
You can get an annual prepaid subscription for $220 that includes four boxes per year. This comes out to $55 per box with free shipping. If you don’t want to be billed all at once you can choose a quarterly subscription and pay $65 + shipping for each season. There is also the option for a One-time Try-on Box for $75 + shipping that comes with discounts if you decide to subscribe later. For every purchase, The Wardrobe sends a Box of clothing to someone in need to help transform their life.
When I filled out my style profile I was looking for business casual items I could wear to work. I provided info on the colors I feel comfortable in as well as some likes and dislikes so they could get feel for what I might like. I was amazed at what they come up with and it was so awesome to feel like I had a personal stylist right at my fingertips! They sent me a note that let me know that they had selected some items in the colors I like but that also had interesting patterns or textures. I had never even thought about those elements when it came to choosing articles of clothing so it really gave me something to consider when I am shopping on my own.
I think my favorite item in the box was these pants from Banana Republic. They aren’t something I would have picked out on my own but they fit great and are like a great basic with some added flair of the pattern.
I also got these pants from Talbots. I can pair these with some many things so it really stretches my wardrobe options!
This navy blue top is dressy but not overtly so and is still comfortable. It goes well with either pair of pants. I love the cute styling of the sleeves!
This sweater set counted as one item but gives me even MORE options! I live in Arizona so I can wear the sleeveless top on its own or pair it with the matching cardigan when the air conditioning gets a little chilly or save it for fall/winter. I can also wear the cardigan with other things underneath. It has a really cute textured pattern so it’s more than just a boring basic.
Last but not least I got this really pretty necklace. It is so my style! I love that it has some sparkle and a variety of colors so that it compliments just about any outfit!
I liked everything in my box but if for some reason you don’t love everything The Wardrobe asks that you donate the items to someone in your community & they’ll send you a replacement next time. Just let them know!
If you could use a little help with styling, need a little budget friendly wardrobe update, or just like getting fun things in the mail, I can confidently recommend Wardrobe Box. It was well beyond my expectations and so fun to open up!
